At the end of July 2006 we leave our boat in Darwin
(Australia) and fly via Hong Kong
to China. In Beijing
we walk across the Tiananman Square (Square of
Heavenly Peace), in the
Forbidden City and to the tombs of the emperors of the Ming Dynasty.
We visit the Summer Palace with the extended
gardens and the Great Wall of course.
On a lot of places the Chinese prepare themselves for hosting the
Olympic Games in 2008.
In Xian we find one of the
greatest world archeological findings:
the terracotta
army, thousands of red clay warriors fully armed.
In the evening we enjoy a traditional dumpling diner and a colourfull
show of music and dance.
Shanghai is a very modern city with high-rises
everywhere and multileveled fly-overs, but along the river you'll find
the stately and historical buildings. A scroll around Old
China Town is followed by a visit to the
ultra-modern and finest Shanghai Museum.
