Photo-gallery New Zealand Dunedin and the Catlins
April 1, 2003 we are leaving Stewart Island, the small island south of
the 'main' Southern Island, and head north on the way to Dunedin. This city is
founded by Scottish immigrants and has a perfect natural shelter, Otago Harbour.
Sightseeing in town is a must and also the beautiful Otago Peninsula
with its unique nature conservation projects: the only land-based albatross
colony on the head of the peninsula and the 'yellow eyed' penguin habitat.
From Dunedin by rent-a-car we take the coastal route along the south-east
coast of the Southern Island, to New Zealand's most southern town Invercargill
and the most southern cape of the 'mainland' the fishing community of Bluff.
